I Got a Gaming Rig Once Again!
Hello!
It’s been eons since I got a chance to write in my personal blog I’ve been busy for so many things these past months! It was exciting because after so many years, I already got my own gaming rig once again!
My first gaming rig stood on a LGA 775 platform. It was old, but really good. Core 2 Quad was the best back in the days! And having 4GB DDR3 memory was a complete beast already! Below are the specs of my old rig:
Processor: Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4ghz Motherboard: MSI P35-D3 Platinum LGA 775 Memory: OCZ Fatality DDR3 1066mhz (2 x 2GB) PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 600w HDD: Western Digital 500GB Case: Thermaltake Spedo Full Tower Chassis HSF: Xigmatek Thor's Hammer GPU: Sapphire HD4870 1GB GDDR5
It was all rainbows and butterflies during those era. I can play all games in high except for Crysis (which was really hard to play those days).
I felt that my machine will last forever, not until I went abroad. I left the gaming rig in our living room untouched for 3 months. The moment I went back, still excited to use my machine, then it started manifesting problems. It shuts down automatically at random times and whatnot. I was disappointed and frustrated. I exhausted all possibilities but still no luck. My beloved gaming rig won’t turn on. Suspects are the videocard and motherboard, and I tried using my videocard to my friend’s rig and it also showed the same problems. Which means that it is the problem.
It was really a sad day for me since my pc is all I got that time. I started using cheap-ass laptops for the meantime. I started to lower my standards in terms of gaming since laptops can’t afford to have beefy graphics card.
Fast forward to today, 3 years after that happened. I mustered all the cash I got from working my ass off in buying a replacement gaming rig. A lot of bumps along the way in terms of finance, but it did not hinder me in getting what I want, a brand-new-spanking-ultra-awesome gaming rig! Awwww yeaaahhhh!
I planned for this day a thousand times in my mind, and now it comes to fruition.
Got several drafts of the build, but in the end, budget still matters so I did not go for the fancy stuff. I just want something that will work with the latest games and will be fast as possible.
Processor: Intel Core i5 4460 3.2Ghz - 3.4Ghz Boost Motherboard: MSI H97-G43 Memory: Kingston HyperX 8GB x 1 1600mhmz PSU: Seasonic M2 620w Bronze Modular PSU Chassis: Corsair 350D Micro ATX Display: ASUS VX239H 23'' IPS Monitor Keyboard: Corsair K70 Mechanical Keyboard (Cherry MX Reds) Mice: Good old a4tech mice GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 2GB GDDR5
Assembled it at home with my friends. It was a dream, coming true! All of my hardwork has finally paid off and was really happy about it!
And of course, tested it for games and it gave me chills. I havent thought that missing the gaming scene for 3 years will advance it this much. Graphics was lifelike! Thanks to the GTX 680, eventhough 2 years behind it still kicks ass! I was originally rooting for the GTX 970 but after the coil whine and memory issues, I decided to go the safer path.
