JP Morgan Chase Hacked
Apparently, 83 million households and small business accounts were illegally accessed by hackers from JP Morgan. Yes you read it right, it was 83 million. That’s quite a lot if you ask me.
Although it looks compromised in first look, JP Morgan said on Thursday that there was no evidence that account numbers, user ID’s, passwords, birth dates or Social Security numbers had been stolen. Hackers have not used the data yet and JP Morgan Chase said that it has not seen any “unusual customer faud” related to the attack.
This breech could result of usage of the stolen information to different types of fraud and social engineering. Although most likely this will happen, JP Morgan advised customers on its website that it does not believe they need to change their passwords or account information.
Company spokeswoman Patricia Wexler said that the bank is not offering credit monitoring to its customers because no financial information, account data or personally identifiable information was compromised.
